SynthMaster 2.8.10 KV331 Audio Bundle

SynthMaster is an 'all-around' semi-modular software synthesizer and effect plug-in that features many different synthesis methods including VA, Additive, Wavetable, Wavescanning, Phase Modulation, Frequency Modulation, Pulse Width Modulation, Ring Modulation, Amplitude Modulation, Physical Modeling and SFZ Sample Playback synthesis. With its multi-synthesis oscillators, analog modelled/digital filters, flexible effects routing with 11 types of high quality effects and a massive modulation architecture with 95 separate modulation sources and 650+ modulation targets; SynthMaster is a 'must-have' for all synthesizer enthusiasts!

SynthMaster 2.8.10 brings in another raft of impressive add-ons that existing users will be amazed they don't have to pay for.

For us, the most exciting changes have been made to the modulation system. For starters, it now supports drag and drop: click a modulator name and drag it to a target control to make the assignment, which shows up automatically in the mod matrix.

Adjustable modulation depth rotaries appear around all controls assigned to the currently selected modulator, although there's no option to view multiple modulations at once, à la Massive.

Modulation assignments can now include a Via source, and active mod source tabs are shaded grey and shuffled to the left end of the row for easy access. The new Dual LFO mode lets you mix between two shapes, and incorporates a bit depth control for dialling in digital stepping; while the ADSR envelope's Analog and One-Shot modes enable faster, smoother envelope movement and bypassing of the Sustain stage, respectively.

SynthMaster 2.8.1 introduces four new ZDF types: the Moog- style Ladder, the 303-style Diode Ladder, the SEM-style State Variable, and the MS-20-style Bite. They're 'inspired by' rather than actual models, but all of them sound great, significantly upping the synth's versatility.

The Effects section has been boiled down from three tabs to one, with new displays for Phaser, Chorus and LoFi; and modules can now be reordered by dragging.

The arpeggiator's new DrumKit mode serves as a step sequencer for programming an included multitimbral SFZ drum kit, and MIDI input can be recorded into the step sequencer. Polyphonic expression is supported, and you can now choose separate real-time and offline Engine Quality settings.

Superior Drummer 3 and Sound Library by Toontrack

Toontrack announced that Superior Drummer 3 will be released worldwide on September 12, 2017. Building on the legacy of its predecessor, Superior Drummer 3 was redesigned from the ground up to introduce a completely new and improved workflow, integrated drum audio to MIDI conversion, 35 mixer effects, scalable interface, detachable windows, a comprehensive MIDI library and much, much more.

Both in terms of design and functionality, this is by far the most advanced and profound product in the history of the company. Our team has gone above and beyond to make something very complex an ease for the end user to work with,”said Erik Phersson, Toontrack’s Head of Development.

The core sound library, boasting in excess of 230 GB of raw sound material, was recorded by award-winning engineer George Massenburg at probably the world’s most quiet and ideal location for sampling, the Galaxy Studios in Belgium. In addition to close microphones and several ambience positions, the Superior Drummer 3 setup also includes an additional eleven room microphones set up in a surround configuration, for use in anything from stereo all the way up to 11.1 systems. In combination with the large selection of extra instruments as well as the included pool of electronic drum machine sounds added for stacking and sound design purposes, Superior Drummer 3 gives you an incomparable palette of options to craft drum tones beyond your wildest imagination.

Superior Drummer 3 takes music creation to a level of quality, flexibility and authenticity beyond the imagination,” commented engineer George Massenburg.

The idea with Superior Drummer 3 is to let you step into a virtual studio with the best possible raw material and mix options at your disposal to create yourdrum sounds. With Superior Drummer 3, you are in control. Take a seat at the console to hone, mold, shape, mix, match, blend, saturate and create – on yourterms. Superior Drummer 3 is a complete drum production studio and the ultimate framework for creative sound design.

Combining the creative power of the sounds, the ambiences and the extensive set of features, Superior Drummer 3 is more than just a drum sampler – it’s a bottomless well of creativity. It bridges the gap between acoustic and electronic and lets you venture off into completely new sonic landscapes. To me, this is the definitive tool for percussive sound design,” said Mattias Eklund, Toontrack’s Head of Sound Design.

When Superior Drummer 2 was released close to ten years ago, it revolutionized the market and quickly became the industry standard. We are beyond excited to yet again introduce something that sets a new benchmark,” said Toontrack’s CEO Peter Knutsson.

Superior Drummer 3 is released worldwide on September 12, 2017, as a ‘Regular’ version for first-time buyers, an ‘Upgrade’ for owners of the previous version as well as a ‘Crossgrade’ for owners of EZdrummer 2. The program is delivered digitally, available for download through the Toontrack Product Manager directly upon registration. There will also be an option to purchase the core sound library pre-installed on a solid-state drive (SSD).

The process began with going to the ends of the earth to find and restore each one of these rare and incredibly special instruments with the top technicians and expert craftsmen from each discipline. We even went as far as spending years redoing these instruments from scratch again and again until they were totally right. This incredible attention to detail and meticulous care given to each instrument allowed us to develop these sounds to a whole new level of authentic tone.

While its every performing keyboardists dream to have the very best instruments instantly available anywhere, Keyscape is equally useful in the studio for producers and composers. Since these instruments can be easily transformed into amazing unreal sounds with the powerful STEAM Engine under the hood, Keyscape easily turns these coveted instruments from History into innovative new sounds of the Future.

The intuitive interface includes useful performance controls and high-quality creative effects processing specially crafted for each Patch. Hundreds of included Patches showcase the remarkable versatility and ability to dramatically customize these iconic sounds to your music.

Authentic Expression
With many of these collector instruments, its really the imperfections that make them so interesting. Instead of cleaning up all the quirks and noises they make, we made sure to closely capture them since they are a big part of their vibe. In addition to that, our software team closely modeled the authentic behavior and mojo of vintage amplifiers, classic effects units, and unique subtleties like mechanical noises, pedal noises, and release overtones to bring these sounds to a whole new level of authenticity and dynamic expression.

Hybrid “Duo” Sounds
Along with the hundreds of patches based on the 36 instrument models, Keyscape includes special hybrid “Duo” sounds which combine two of the instruments to create something entirely new. The unique timbre of these Duo patches make them some of the most creative and inspiring sounds in Keyscape!

Omnisphere Integration
As a bonus for Omnisphere 2 users, Keyscape also integrates fully as a satellite instrument within the Omnisphere interface. Keyscape will simply appear as a library inside Omnispheres browser for users of both plugins. Antares Autotune 7 v7.0.8

Auto-Tune corrects intonation and timing problems in vocals or solo instruments, without distortion or artifacts, while preserving all of the expressive nuance of the original performance – with audio quality so pristine that the only difference between what goes in and what comes out is the intonation and timing. All with a user-interface that is a model of clarity, speed and ease-of-use.

Auto-Tune is used daily by thousands of audio professionals around the world. Whether to save studio and editing time, ease the frustration of endless retakes, or save that otherwise once-in-a-lifetime performance, Auto-Tune is the overwhelming tool of choice.

Sound
Simply, Auto-Tune 7 delivers. It sounds great, and when used as originally intended, its pitch correction sounds transparent and natural. Performances that are “close” can have corrections applied that are essentially undetectable and natural sounding; while more errant pitches can be corrected fairly well, too.

The same can be said for timing correction, which is a great tool to have handy in your studio. If the automatic mode doesn’t quite get what you’re after, it is easy enough (with a little learning curve) to fix things manually in Graphic Mode, just as most engineers became comfortable editing pitch in this manner years ago.

Spectrasonics Trilian is a full-bodied bass virtual instrument that has almost all kinds of basses in its arsenal: from a luxurious double bass and legendary electric bass guitars to a wide range of synthetic timbres. A huge library of sound (in the double bass there are over 21,000 individual samples. Is controlled using an exclusive STEAM engine, it is skipped through high-quality built-in effects and arpeggiator.. Trilian is designed from the ground up to be the most versatile bass virtual instrument available today with a new level of expressive, real-time performance for acoustic and electric basses plus cutting-edge synth bass tones with powerful editing and extraordinary sound quality.

Trilian is the successor to Spectrasonics’ award-winning Trilogy bass instrument, offering deeper control of musical expression and much greater flexibility of sound shaping. Trilian’s 34GB library is 10-times the size of Trilogy and features all new acoustic, electric and synth basses.

Powered by next generation STEAM Engine technology, Trilian is the first instrument to feature core library integration with Spectrasonics flagship Omnisphere® synth – allowing Trilian’s sounds to be used within the Omnisphere environment for further sound design and keyboard/bass splits.“At Spectrasonics, we’ve always loved Bass sounds.” notes Eric Persing, Founder and Creative Director. “When we started 15 years ago, our very first product was the best-selling Bass Legends sample library. Then in 2002, we introduced Trilogy – the world’s first Bass Virtual Instrument. Now we are very pleased to release Trilian, which represents a whole new generation of our Bass development. Trilian is built on the STEAM Engine that powers Omnisphere, which has allowed us to create the most expressive and flexible Bass module we’ve ever made.”

PERFORMANCE
The new acoustic and electric basses in Trilian are sampled at an extremely high level of detail. The combination of the software’s intuitive, automatic selection of legato and release articulations as the user plays – and the extensive ‘Round-Robin’ variations introduced for natural sounding bass lines with repeated notes – create a more dynamic and subtle playing experience. Newly developed multisampled dynamic slides let notes realistically slide from one to another. Each of the new basses feature multi-channel mixing between phase-locked microphone/amplifier and direct outputs of each bass.

BASS INSTRUMENTS
Over sixty different 4, 5, 6 and 8 string Electric basses are presented in fingered, picked, fretless, slapped, tapped, and muted technique variations – providing a huge variety of sounds for any musical genre. Highlights of the new Electric Basses include a Music Man™ 5-string Studio Bass, Chapman Stick®, Lakland™ Rock P-Bass, Clean Fender® Jazz Bass, a Hardcore Rock Bass, a Retro 1960’s Epiphone® Viola Bass and much more.
Trilian’s stunning new Acoustic Bass is the most detailed instrument Spectrasonics has ever released, with 4 audio channels and over 21,000 samples to create this single instrument! All this combined with Trilian’s high-resolution streaming of the sounds puts a depth of realism into performances that is truly inspiring.

INTEGRATION
Trilian is the first virtual instrument to feature core library integration with Spectrasonics award-winning, flagship Omnisphere synthesizer. Trilian’s complete sound library can be opened within Omnisphere for further synthesis and expanded performance possibilities.
Trilian’s Arpeggiator features the “Groove Lock” technology Spectrasonics pioneered in Omnisphere and Stylus RMX’s Time Designer – which means that with a simple drag and drop action, the feel of bass patterns created with Trilian’s Arpeggiator can be perfectly synchronized between all three of Spectrasonics instruments.

INTERFACE
The new Custom Controls interface on the Main page of each patch brings out the most useful and interesting sound modification controls for that specific patch, and a single control can even modify numerous parameters to create unique FX. The Custom Controls are all MIDI Learnable, Automatable and users can create their own configurations of Custom Controls.

Logic Pro X 10.3.2 I Apple Mac OS

Apple have updated their flagship DAW Logic Pro X to version 10.3.2. The new version features some extra Drummers who play Latin, Pop and an extra player suitable for singer-songwriters. Drummer allows users to create a more natural rhythm track with auto-fills, variations in volume and general ‘realism’ added in. Extra loops have also been added to fit the styles of the new Drummers.

Elsewhere, Apple have added the ability to pitch and fine-tune individual audio regions – a long-awaited and very welcome addition. Ableton users will be very familiar with how easy it is to transpose clips, so anyone who uses both will be glad to see this feature added to Logic. Their latest instrument acquisition Alchemy has also had a re-vamp, adding an automatic time align feature for improved morphing.

New in Logic Pro X 10.3.2
New features and enhancements
  • Includes three new Drummers who play percussion in the styles of Pop, Songwriter, and Latin.
  • Add new Drummer loops to your song and then customize them with performance controls.
  • The pitch of an audio region can now be transposed or fine-tuned.
  • Alchemy includes an automatic time align feature for improved morphing.
  • New additive effects in Alchemy expand the options for filtering and modulating sound.
  • There is now a key command to Copy Section Between Locators (Global), which copies all content between the locators regardless of selection.
  • In Flex Pitch, there is now a contextual menu item to reset all Flex Pitched notes in all currently selected regions.
  • There is now a key command Remove Fades.
  • There is now an Audio > General preference to reserve lowered number busses from auto assignment.
  • Shift-clicking when closing in a plug-in window now closes all open plug-in windows.
Stability and reliability
  • Logic Pro no longer quits unexpectedly after performing Undo after the command Copy Selected Regions to Selected Track on a marquee selection is used.
  • Logic Pro no longer sometimes quits unexpectedly when:
  • Using the Repeat Regions/Events command after inserting a note with the Pencil tool in the Piano Roll when Link is off and the Library is open.
  • Opening a project that contains instances of Camel Audio Alchemy 1.5 and Logic Pro X Alchemy.
  • Moving a marquee selected set of flex markers in the Audio Track Editor.
  • Selecting a newly downloaded Drum Machine patch while the Musical Typing window and Drummer Editor are open.

  • Adjusting region parameters on audio regions with Flex Pitch active while playing back no longer sometimes leads to bursts of noise.
Drummer
  • Switching between Drummer characters during playback no longer sometimes causes Drummer to stop playing until playback is stopped and started again.
  • The record button on Drum Machine Designer tracks no longer unexpectedly disables when changing drum kits.
  • The Duplicate Track command now works for Drummer or Software Instrument tracks assigned to Drum Machine Designer or Drum Kit Designer producer kits.

Valhalla DSP Bundle (Shimmer, Room & UberMod) MAC OS

Valhalla Shimmer is the first plug-in that intrigued me out of the four available. I like to use big, long tail reverbs in my music meditation recordings, especially vocal recordings, and Shimmer did not disappoint. Any fan of big cathedrals, halls or arenas will love the detail and breadth of this reverb tool. All of the parameters can be adjusted in real time without weird artifacts or other bothersome nuances. The sound quality is buttery, rich and deep; like landing on a soft pillow. It’s wonderful to have a reverb tool that is specifically tailored to big, lush sounds. In my experience, it’s been tough with other reverbs to find that sweet spot. This is a sound you can get lost in and would be interesting on any instrument. Shimmer also has the ability to pitch shift the feedback signal and there are five different modes for that. In the product description, Costello explains how to use Shimmer and the pitch-shifting algorithm to obtain the classic Eno/Lanois ‘shimmer’ sound.

Valhalla Room - If you were to decide on only one reverb of the four, Valhalla Room would be a great versatile choice. There is a little of everything here as far as sizes of rooms, including light ambiences, traditional hall and plate sounds and complex, modulated spaces. There are twelve unique reverberation algorithms to choose from and a host of presets to get started as well. Also of note are the ‘Early’ and ‘Late’ sections. The ‘Early’ section allows you to design short bursts of reverberation energy like gates and chorusing effects while the ‘Late’ section allows for shaping control over the decays up to 100 seconds. There are so many preset choices and possible algorithm combinations, that one could spend hours listening to the various nuances produce by subtle and dramatic changes a like.

Valhalla UberMod - Stupendous And Unheard-Of Splendors Await Me Below, And I Shall Seek Them Soon. ValhallaÜberMod is a unique mutltap delay and modulation plugin. With up to 32 modulated delay taps, extensive diffusion and overdrive sections, and parallel slow and vibrato LFOs, ÜberMod can be used to create lush dimensional choruses, classic string ensembles, tape and BBD echoes, nonlinear and reverse reverbs, and a bunch of sounds that defy categorization.

Valhalla DSP Bundle (Plate, Room & Vintage Verb)

Valhalla Plate is modeled after the real world sound and behavior of steel plate reverbs and allows users to go beyond the physical capabilities of this sound. Steel plate reverbs were some of the first reverb sounds used in recording production, starting in the '60s, and quite complicated to set up. Now that we are well into the digital recording revolution, there are a plethora of digital reverb models that emulate this sound that we can quickly load up and implement. The Valhalla plate realistically models the physics of plate reverbs in addition to providing extra control or extended techniques. These include controlling how metallic the reverb sounds and a lush modulation setting that eliminates any metallic artifacts. There are Plate sounds available in the Valhalla Room plug-in but for producers and engineers who tend to gravitate towards plate for signal processing, this stand-alone tool is a worthy investment.

Valhalla Room - If you were to decide on only one reverb of the four, Valhalla Room would be a great versatile choice. There is a little of everything here as far as sizes of rooms, including light ambiences, traditional hall and plate sounds and complex, modulated spaces. Valhalla Vintage is sweet sounding reverb inspired by classic hardware digital reverbs of '70s and '80s. The way Costello recreated the '70s and '80s version of the Vintage is fascinating. In the '70s hardware version, there was a 10 kHz maximum output frequency, and the sound was down sampled internally. He reproduced this sound with custom algorithms so that the modulation is dark and noisy and artifacts are intentionally produced to give the impression of running at a lower sampling rate. The '80s version has a brighter sound in comparison and runs at full bandwidth and sample rate, although the modulation is still dark and noisy. A ‘NOW ‘ setting is also included with clean and colorless modulation. The reverb algorithms include some standard Halls, Plate and Rooms but also interesting setting like ‘Nonlin,’ which combine gated, reverse and nonlinear into one and sound otherworldly. Many of the algorithms in Vintage emulate '80s style hardware reverbs as well giving this plug-in a unique vintage quality all its own.

Kickstart Sidechain Compression - Nicky Romero

Nicky Romero’s second attempt at creating a plug-in is easily as successful as his first. While not as advanced as KICK, Kickstart is a unique little sidechain VST effect plug-in that has no real competition on the market. Kickstart, honestly, is the simplest sidechain solution available to anyone right now. It’s cheap, it’s effective, and best of all it has an incredibly intuitive and visual layout. Nicky Romero and Cableguys should be very proud of their handy work and I applaud them for creating Kickstart in such a compelling fashion.

When attaching Kickstart to a mixer channel, a simple window pops up. Firstly, the main display shows users the shape of the sidechain curve they’re going to be applying to the channel Kickstart is loaded in. To the left of that is a huge knob that is just a wet/dry knob for the effect being applied to the channel and on the bottom you can determine the general shape you want by selecting from 16 options. It’s definitely a really simple plug-in, but simple does not mean it isn’t quality. Each of the shapes provided come preloaded with a description that details the type of sound they are best used in conjunction with, giving users a quicker road to track development. While sidechaining is definitely one of the most essential techniques used in electronic music production, it generally takes some time to set up any of the various techniques used. Cableguys and Nicky Romero definitely had user workflow in mind when they created Kickstart and it shows in the final product.

Being as simple as it is, Kickstart comes with a small flaw. As anyone who’s heard of Nicky Romero surely knows, he’s a house producer and primarily focuses on house music in general. Sadly, so does Kickstart. Kickstart has built in timing options because it isn’t linked to any type of trigger. However, if you are making any type of offbeat kick pattern or any syncopated drums, you’re going to have a tough time using Kickstart. You can only choose denominations of eighth, quarter, half, or whole notes for the sidechain to be applied on. I’ve attempted to use automation of the wet/dry knob to trigger when Kickstart applies its effect on a channel, but at that point it’s not anymore useful or time efficient than other sidechain options. I’m not sure what I would suggest to remedy this problem, but as far as any house music producer is concerned Kickstart should work very well for them.
