Spectrasonics has announced the release of Omnisphere 2.5, a major update of its flagship software synthesizer instrument.

With this previously announced new version, Omnisphere becomes the first software synth in the world to offer a ground-breaking Hardware Synth Integration feature which makes using Omnisphere feel just like using a hardware synth. This is the much anticipated continuation of Toontrack’s New York Studios Legacy series, focusing on capturing the best studios in the New York area. Recorded in the renowned Avatar Studios and featuring several vintage and custom kits, this session is best described as a prequel to the much praised core library in Toontrack’s award-winning Superior Drummer, also recorded in Avatar studios and by the same team, engineer duo Neil Dorfsman and Pat Thrall together with drummer Nir Z.

Avatar Studios is known for having one of the world’s finest acoustic environments for recording and has won several industry awards. Since its inception in the 1970s, it’s hosted bands and artists like Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Journey, Kings of Leon and The Clash.

The drums were recorded through a Neve 8068 console and signal chains of modern and vintage studio gear by an engineer/drummer team that has decades worth of experience behind the console and in the tracking room. Between them, they have worked with artists covering the whole gamut of genres, from classic rock (Kiss, Meatloaf, Bruce Springsteen) to soul (Joss Stone, John Mayer) and modern pop (Beyoncé, Katy Perry).

The program uses a moderate amount of system memory (which is quite surprising), comes with complete documentation which can be downloaded for free from the developer’s website, and its overall response time to commands is very good. Moreover, we found no problems of any kind to test this software.

In a nutshell
In conclusion, no doubt Reaper is a professional tool for experts in the department of audio editing, so beginners would have trouble handling properly (however, learning is an option). The variety of controls makes audio processing a breeze.

LOW

Features of Audio Assault Transient+ v1.2
Attack
The Attack parameter controls the strength of the detected transients.
A high attack will increase the perceived attack of an instrument, giving the impression of a high velocity note being played.
A low attack will give the opposite effect.

Sustain
The Sustain parameter controls the strength of the detected sustained signal post-transient.
A high sustain will increase the amplitude of the sustain portion of the signal, allowing you to increase the decay of the source.
A low sustain will give the opposite effect.

2X
The 2X control doubles the effect of the respective Attack and Sustain controls.

Clip
Activates a clipper on the output of each respective section, which gives the output of Multi Transient a hard digital ceiling. This can be used to control the strength of the transients when the 2X switch is activated by clipping the transient if it gets too hot. For exaggerated clipped effects, push into the clipper using the Output control.

Output
Dials in the right amount of output gain using a linear output circuit.

Phase
Inverts the polarity of the plugin’s output.

Bypass
Brings Multi Transient in and out of bypass.

Mix
Blends between the completely dry signal and the output of the channel’s transient detection and shaping circuit. Allows you to find just the right overall blend of the shaped signal, or to create more subtle parallel transient shaping effects.

Keepforest’s Vikings Cinematic Metal Toolkit consists of powerful cinematic metal instruments for your compositions. This expansion is inspired by Doom soundtrack written by Mick Gordon.

With the participation of professional musicians, sound designers, sound engineers, we recorded strings, percussions, guitars, basses and many more instruments. We literally played and experimented in the world of sounds, creating the library’s uniqueness and signature.

As the name Vikings, our library is inspired by the Scandinavian world and mythology, which have always had an important place in the movie industry, the vibe of which can be heard in the Guy Ritchie’s masterpiece King Arthur or in the extremely successful Game of Thrones. Surprisingly, we could not find a true and complete samples library on the market, dedicated to this genre. Having a clear vision in our minds, we decided take the opportunity and started the recording process of Vikings in January, 2017.
